Seth D. Metcalf – AgriBusiness Insurance Expert

After years of gaining important knowledge, experience, and versatility from some of the nation’s most respected insurance professionals, I joined Insurance Brokers of MN in 2017 bringing 19 years of insurance experience. I feel truly fortunate to be involved with a family/employee-owned Insurance Agency, whose strengths include strong customer service, continuous education, effective communication, innovative opportunities to improve their client’s insurance programs. 

Previously being a part of a national insurance brokerage has given me experience observing many different regions, personalities, and cooperative benchmarking. With this knowledge, it has given me the insight to focus on the cooperative vertical.

We achieve educating cooperatives how to maximize their revenue through risk appetite, employee safety, property evaluations, execution of coverages, safety regulations, and Loss Control. We accomplish this by personally observing, asking proper questions, continuously researching each companies’ coverages to connect their risks, and building trusted relationships.

 My family and I reside in Bemidji, MN with my four kids. Madison (21) Tate (18) Talen (11) Vaida (9). We enjoy being involved in the local community. I am the Tournament Director for the Bemidji Bantam AA Hockey Tournament, and other community events. God has given me the ability to enjoy our kids’ while we still have them around, enjoying Northern MN beautiful outdoors, and spending time on our family farms.

“We work with Seth for our insurance needs. He came in to review what we currently had, asked questions concerning our current coverage. I was unable to answer his questions as the previous agent wasn’t very explanatory when I would ask questions trying to understand our policy. Seth did some research on what our needs were in certain areas from a liability standpoint. When he came back with our quote he did not rush or push us in any way. He provided as much time as we needed in order to walk through the estimate step by step and explain what everything meant, he didn’t leave until he knew all of our questions had been answered and we understood what we were looking at. When our current agent came by, he ran through the estimate in just a few minutes, it was quite a bit below what Seth had quoted us. After both had left, we sat down to compare the 2 policy estimates. The estimate that was cheaper did not provide near enough coverage for our needs & liabilities, as we increased the needs, the two premiums came out very comparable. We chose Seth not based on price of premium but because he provided incredible customer service for us. He is always available if I need to call with a question and when I got behind on my premium, he called to check and see if everything was okay and if there was something he could do”.
